The Florida Panthers will celebrate the franchise’s first Stanley Cup title with a parade in Fort Lauderdale on Sunday.
The parade is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. Fans are invited to join the festivities along the parade route, which begins at A1A and Riomar Street.
“We are giving ourselves the rest of the week to pull it all together, to make it the best parade ever,” said Fort Lauderdale Mayor Dean Trantalis.
The parade will continue down A1A and end at SE 5th Street, just north of Fort Lauderdale Beach Park, where a formal rally will take place on stage across from Hotel Maren.
Fans like Giovanni Batiste wanted to come by to see the preparations for Sunday’s Panthers’ parade.
“It’s amazing for Florida,” he said. “Super excited. I actually rode my bike over her guys, five miles just to be able to check it out.”
Based on the exuberance at Baptist Health Iceplex in Fort Lauderdale the moments after the win.
“We predicted this guys, what an amazing win,” said one Panther fan.
“This is so awesome,” said another Panther fan.
Workers were seen on Fort Lauderdale Beach setting up tents on Tuesday as the city gears up to host the big celebration.
“After 31 years to be able to bring the Stanley Cup to our community is really something we can all be proud of,” said Trantalis.
“Great for Fort Lauderdale, people and us locals to be able to spread the love,” said Batiste. “Huge, can’t wait to see it.”
Broward County Transit will be providing free transportation to the parade on Sunday. The Park and Ride at Griffin Road, Tri-Rail Station or bus routes will be offering rides.
